What an exciting year it has been at High Hill Christian Camp and Retreat Center! Your camp has experienced a 12% growth over last year as 866 campers attended this summer's camp program. Of those, twenty-eight (28) were baptized in union with Jesus, either at camp or at their home congregations following camp. Missions giving from the campers this year also grew dramatically as over $13,600 was given. We are praising the Lord for a great summer
It has been a great year financially, as well. We are on target to meet our budget even as we continue to make many improvements to our facilities. However, expenses continue to rise here just as they do everywhere else. Utility costs, food costs, fuel and maintenance supplies seem to be rising the most rapidly. We have also hired a new Facilities Director, Phil Steele. He will be overseeing the maintenance of our facilities as well as working with registrations.
As you probably know, the registration fees paid by the campers cover about half of the cost of their camp experience. We rely on the churches to make up the difference. It is nearing the time of the year when most missions committees will be evaluating their budgets and giving for the next year. We would like to thank the many churches who increased their support of the camp this past year and would like to encourage you to consider another increase this coming year.
If you haven't visited your camp recently, you will be amazed at the changes. Nebel Hall is nearly completely remodeled, and McKinzie will be remodeled this winter in preparation for next summer. Since we were at capacity several times this past summer, we will also be working on buildings that have not been used for housing in recent years, giving us additional housing as we continue to grow.
As you plan your giving for 2009, please consider your camp and the impact it is having on hundreds of youth each summer.
