Rachel grew up near Elizabethtown, Kentucky where her father was the manager of White Mills Christian Camp. While in high school Curtis felt that God was directing him to serve as a missionary, particularly with a ministry that uses airplane in support of missionaries and humanitarian aid organizations, so Curtis attended technical school in Cincinnati, Ohio to earn an aircraft maintenance technician license. Rachel also felt that God was directing her to serve Him as a missionary. She attended Cincinnati Bible College and it was during that time that Rachel and Curtis met. They married in August of 1998 and in 2000 they joined Mission Aviation Fellowship and were assigned to work in Ecuador, South America. They lived and served in Ecuador for 4 years and then returned to the U.S. Curtis took a new job maintaining medical helicopters with AirEvac Lifeteam, first in West Plains, Missouri and later in Paoli, Indiana. In 2011, Curtis started his own business doing maintenance and repair of small privately owned airplanes. Curtis and Rachel have always felt that someday God would direct them back to camp, so they are really excited to have the opportunity to serve at High Hill and look forward to many great experiences.
