Testimonials
I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for the wonderful time Nicole had at Camp last week!!! She enjoyed herself so much and loved everything about Camp. My family went down Tuesday evening to have dinner with Nicole and stayed for Chapel. I was so impressed with all the people helping and caring for my daughter. We are truly blessed to have been able to be a part of High Hill Camp this year. Nicole is excited to go back again. I have seven years of camp memories from High Hill Christian Assembly, all good. My first week of camp was in 1994, when I attended Jr. High Week with two friends. I attend a non-demoninational church, which is unaffiliated with the churches that support High Hill, but I have always been welcomed and included by the youth group leaders and counselors that are there. In addition to my week of Jr. High camp, I also came to four years of High School Week (1995-1998), all of which were absolutely awesome! The memories and friendships made there will last a lifetime! I have come to camp knowing no one, and I have come with a group of sixteen kids from my church. I was also counselor for two Jr. High weeks (1999-2000). When I was there, the girls dorm didn't have air conditioning, and that was just part of the camp experience. Some of my fun memories include: paddleboating on the lake; meeting new friends; whispering past lights-out; playing cards during recreation; getting packages from home; sending my friends packages; getting peanut butter, syrup and more in my hair; hearing the buzzer; and so-so-so much more! But besides all the fun times, I also learned so much about the Lord, and so many spiritual truths became real to me at camp. Many things that I grew up knowing as truth became a reality to me, such as Jesus' death on the cross, His soon return, His kingdom, and much more. I learned so much from the awesome counselors who took time out of their lives to minister into the lives of campers like me! Then as a counselor, I was so blessed to talk with the Jr. Highers and spend time with them. The most awesome times of worship that I've ever experienced have been at camp, especially during campfire, when you are sitting under the stars, worshipping God while looking at His creation. I wouldn't trade my time at camp for anything!! Jean Fitzgerald Belding 2005 Calvary Chapel of St. Louis County I've been going to High Hill Christian Assembly since 5th grade. All through middle school I loved it. I loved it so much because you get to worship and learn more about God than if you were home. When you're at camp instead of watching TV or listening to music (as you would do at home) you get more time to read and study the bible. You can also meet some good Christian friends there. One of my favorite memories was during Jr. High camp. That week had such an influence on me that I decided to get baptized when I got back home. The people there working are really cool, because they always want to listen or try to help you with problems you have. They are also good at giving advice. This year I was a C.I.T. (counselor in training). I got to help at two weeks of camp. It was really fun helping and teaching the younger kids what I know and what the bible says about God. High Hill Christian Assembly is a great place to come closer to Him. And I know that from experience. Heather Allen Being a CIT was an awesome experience. Just to meet the campers and praying that you can touch their lives in some way and that they leaver closer to God. I love being a camper because you get to meet new people and grow closer to God. There has never been a time I have been there that I didn't leave without learning something and become closer to God. Rachel Lee I grew up in Indiana, so my memories of camp as a kid are out there. My memory of HHCA began shortly after I married Tammy when we took our young boys to Family Camp for the first time in 1990. I just remember how refreshing it was to have people we didn't know offer to help with our kids so Tammy and I could enjoy the weekend. Meanwhile, we enjoyed putting in our time in helping out with teaching the youth as well. It was there that my son, Jered, caught his first major (and possible only) fish--a 2 lb. catfish out of the lake. My oldest son, JD, enjoyed family camp so much that first year, that he was hooked for dorm camp every year thereafter. Since he was so involved with baseball in the summer, he could not attend both CIY and camp--he always chose camp due to the outdoor setting. My middle son, Ryan, likes to do both. My best memory of family camp was approximately six years ago when we surprised everyone with a late night re-enactment of the trial and crucifixion of Christ. Although most of us were not thespians, I was impressed in how diligent everyone was as they gave up most of their free time on Saturday afternoon to rehearse in order to do a good job and adequately convey the emotions, injustice, and victory all at once. I couldn't attend a couple of years due to work obligations, and I always felt like I missed something special on those Labor Day weekends. Tom & Tammy Yeaton I went to High Hill Camp elementary through High School years. It wasn't as "modern" as it is now. We had no AC and no ceiling in the mess hall. We saw the rafters. I made so many friendships as I was growing up. You didn't have to act like someone else, just be yourself. I have a pen pal that I met from camp, although now we live closer together so we see each other. I have also met up with two other people recently that I went to camp with. Some of the things that I remember were dressing up for dinner each night, playing volleyball, playing tetherball, and one year we did a Passover dinner. It was really interesting because I had not really understood the dinner before. Now it has become a tradition for my mom and I to go to the Ladies Retreat each Spring. We have so much fun! I am hoping that in a couple of years my daughter will want to join us. The food is so good, not like the camp food that I remember while growing up! The dorms are clean, and the praise sessions are so uplifting. So any Mothers out there that need a break — High Hill has an overnighter just for you. I went to Teddy bear camp with my daughter, then helped Dave Smith for a couple years until my working obligations changed. My daughter is a counselor in training and enjoys it so much. So hopefully she and all others campers will be able to make the lasting friendships that I have made. June Tullock
